I serve on the council of the National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD), using my experience as an artist, educator and researcher to inform national policy, champion anti-racist art education and support teachers across the UK.

I serve as a trustee of the historic Portico Library, with responsibility for safeguarding and supporting the Portico Reunite project. In this role I help shape the library’s strategic direction, ensuring that questions of safety, race equity and access are central as we reimagine what a 19th‑century institution can be for 21st‑century Manchester.

In 2026 I received NSEAD’s President’s Choice Teacher Award for Exemplary Practice, acknowledging over three decades of art and SEND teaching, curriculum change and sector leadership, and my contribution to advancing inclusive, anti-racist art and design education in the UK.
